Empowering You to Live Free.

Anxiety & Trauma Therapy in Alpharetta, GA

If you're looking for a sign that it's time to change, this is it!

Every day I talk with people who tell me they have been wanting to come to therapy for months (or even YEARS!) and they just kept putting it off! There is never enough time, never enough of a reason why, and they want to be able to figure things out on their own.

I understand that desire. Really- I do. But you should not have to do it alone! You don't get a gold star in life for doing it without help. Avoiding your healing only means wasting time not living free- Not living life being the person you know you were created to be!

It's normal to be nervous about starting therapy!

The Unprecedented Need for Therapy- It's Not Just You!

There used to be a negative, old school mindset about therapy and the “types” of people who needed it. Fortunately, our generation has worked hard to normalize mental health struggles and get rid of any shame around having a therapist. In fact, “In the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, global prevalence of anxiety and depression increased by a massive 25%, according to a scientific brief released by the World Health Organization (WHO) today.” *

With numbers like these, it would be abnormal to NOT have a therapist! We are responding to the increase in mental health struggles with less judgment, and more understanding and compassion- something we could all use a little more of right now.
Coming to therapy isn't about you being broken, it is about making sure life doesn't break you.

Therapy is for Everyone

The average client I work with is successful, resilient, and extremely brave, although they usually don't see themselves that way on Day One. They would probably use words more like overwhelmed, stretched too thin, and anxious to the point of barely functioning. These are women and men just like you, reaching out because they know there has to be more to life than what they are getting, and they are tired of being stuck in the cycle of no change.

Whether you are noticing your motivation and energy at an all time low, or your anxiety and negative self-talk at an all time high, therapy can help!

Healing Your Mental Health

There is a saying, “Most people in therapy are there because of someone who refuses to go.” There is a lot of truth to this! The majority of my clients are working through issues that they didn't necessarily create themselves, but they are paying the price. Here are some of the most common reasons people reach out for help:

-Toxic work (or college) environments with unrealistic demands, causing burnout
-Parenting and co-parenting stressors
-Marriage and relationship issues
-Feelings of never being good enough, worthlessness, or fears of abandonment
-Unprocessed grief
-History of trauma, neglect, or emotionally unavailable parents (often times still having to interact with these very people)

Or maybe a particular symptom prompted them to reach out:

-Anxiety has increased
-Motivation and energy has dwindled
-A general feeling of disconnectedness from life
-Negative self-talk has become so constant that it is crippling

If you are noticing any of these things, know that you are not alone. There is hope for change!

Working with a therapist can help!

If any of this resonates with you, then you have come to the right place! I can help.

I want you to know that I SEE YOU, I hear you, and there is hope for change.  I know what it takes to break this toxic cycle that is smothering your ability to be happy and truly love yourself. Therapy is the place to find yourself and discover that you are worth so much more. This isn’t who God created you to be and deep down you know that.

I work with women and men to shed those expectations that are so unfulfilling. Together, we release painful things from the past that have told you who you are, and we re-write your story so that you are in control of your future. Building confidence, a new sense of love for yourself, and undoubtedly knowing your worth. You deserve this.

Why work with Julie Hilton?

There are hundreds of qualified therapists in the Metro Atlanta area, each with their own unique approach and area of expertise.  Choosing the right one can be overwhelming! So what makes my style unique?
I don’t give advice
I believe you know yourself and what's best for you better than any professional ever could. I want to help you learn to trust yourself again! I will never tell you what's best for you, however...
I dig deep!
While we will always go at your pace, I don’t encourage staying on the surface during therapy. I think it’s a waste of your time and money. Healing happens when you safely face the hard stuff. But with that being said...
I don’t leave you to figure it out alone

I’m a very engaged therapist, which means I will challenge you and help you connect dots that you may never have even considered are important. I won't just sit in silence the whole session.
I don’t believe therapy should be retraumatizing
Many people avoid therapy out of fear (possibly from bad experiences with therapy in the past, and I get that). There are ways to face the past without retraumatizing your system and I strive to help you find that balance so that it feels like relief rather than pain all over again.

"I was unemployed for about 7 months and I hit a rock bottom with my mental health that I had never known before. I quickly realized that too much of my Self-Worth and identity had been tied to how hard I was working, what I was achieving, and where my career was headed. I had to take a serious look at how to untangle my worth from my work. " -Julie Hilton
